Work-life balance: why it is more important than ever
Work-life balance is a hot topic for us this week. Not only is today World Mental Health Day, but it is also Work Life week in the UK. The two events go hand in hand. If you ever feel overworked, then it is going to take its toll on your mental health.
So, we thought it was a great topic of discussion for our latest blog. We have interesting insights from our own digital salary survey that can shed a light on how employers can help their teams’ work-life balance.
What is National Work Life week?
National Work Life Week is Working Families’ annual campaign to get both employers and employees talking about well being at work and striking the perfect balance. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on the current situation within your company. Furthermore, use the week to have conversations that some people might usually ignore. You can use the week to provide activities for staff, and to showcase your flexible working policies and practices.
How do digital professionals feel about well being?
In our digital salary survey, 81% of respondents shared that they were happy with the balance between work and home. This is a positive outlook and is indicative of digital companies looking our for their team. 63% of respondents also shared that an emphasis on employee well being is integral to a good company culture.
Furthermore, we asked respondents what was most important to them in a role. Unsurprisingly, many of the top answers were directly related to mental health and work-life balance. Flexible hours/working and working from home opportunities topped the list – are you offering these to your team?
