Lucasfilm x Disney: Is this going to be one of the best duels in Star Wars history?
The trailer for Star Wars: Vision’s anime anthology was revealed at the 2021 anime expo lite which is a digital version of Anime Expo. This is a way of bringing together fans and industry for a celebration of Japanese pop culture. Lucasfilm and Disney have jointly announced that nine creative shorts will be available on September 22nd. These mini-films have been developed in seven different studios, each presenting a unique take on space fantasy including many references to the Japanese culture.
The shorts vary from one another however, Kamikaze Douga’s The Duel, for instance, is a mostly black-and-white short involving samurai-like Jedi and Sith warriors. Not to mention genres such as ‘rock opera’ have been mentioned too.
The shorts announced at the event, and the studios working on them, include:
- The Duel by Kamikaze Douga (Batman Ninja)
- Lop & Ocho by Geno Studio (Golden Kamuy)
- Tatooine Rhapsody by Studio Colorido (A Whisker Away)
- The Twins and The Elder by Trigger (Kill La Kill)
- The Village Bride by Kinema Citrus (Tokyo Magnitude 8.0)
- Akakiri and T0-B1 by Science Saru (Japan Sinks)
- The Ninth Jedi by Production IG (Ghost in the Shell)
